Who can donate material to the NTUA library?
Anyone can donate to the Central Library of the National Technical University of Athens.
Which type of material is acceptable for donation?
The library accepts books, journals, maps. Their subject and content must be relevant with the thematic categories covered by the National Technical University of Athens and not already available in a large number in the Library.
Specifically for the journals, the titles should be included in the subscriptions of the library.
What is the process of submitting a donation?
When the donation is up to 10 books (numerically) and related to the thematic categories covered by the University the Library may accept them, provided that there is no excessive number of copies already in the Library.
When the donation exceeds 10 books, the donor must send a list of the books he/she wishes to donate. This list should contain the following information about each book: name of Writer, Book Title and Year of Publication. This list will be forwarded to the Library Committee, which will decide whether to accept the donation as a whole or part of it, or whether it will be rejected. The donor will be informed about the decision of the Committee regarding his/hers donation.
The books accepted by the Library as a donation should be in good condition.
The arrival of the donation into the Library is the responsibility of the Donor.
After accepting the donation, the Library sends a compliment letter to the donor, signed by the Deputy Rector responsible for Academic Affairs.
The donation material will be physically processed and will be imported.
The material donated to the library is incorporated into the main collection or is it placed in a separate area?
The material will be processed and catalogued into the library’s information system and classified in the collection depending on the year of publication (If the material was published before 1950, it will be become part of the Historical Library).
