The NTUA Library and Information Centre, in its effort to exploit the extremely significant material of the Historical Collection, digitizes the NTUA’s Historical Library, which currently contains approximately 60,000 volumes of books and periodicals published from the 17th century to 1950. The core of the collection consists of old and rare books, pamphlets, maps, engravings, and encyclopedias.
This material is of historical, scientific, and artistic value, making it imperative that it be preserved and made accessible to a wider range of interested researchers. The long-term goal is to digitize all the documents of the Historical Library that meet the criteria for digitization according to international standards.
The digital collection of the Historical Library is now accessible to all members of the Polytechnic Community, with the long-term goal of making it freely available to the public in the future.
